Project: Castle Quay Development, Banbury

Client: McLaren Construction Ltd Principal Contractor: Collins Demolition Ltd
On-Site: May 2019 - January 2020 Contract Value: £950,000

Description of the job:

The works were spilt into three phases and involved the demolition of a multi storey car park, re using of all aggregates generated to form pilling mats to allow the construction of a new hotel. Associated with the process was the removal of a footbridge over the Oxford Canal linking the car park with the shopping centre for foot traffic. Following the demolition works we were commissioned to undertake additional works to the Shopping Centre.

Interesting Facts:

Throughout the demolition and bridge lift the public areas remained open so dust control was paramount, this was even more critical during the processing and crushing stages to produce the aggregate needed for the piling mats.

Over 8500m3 of material was produced from the demolition process.

Client Feedback

We followed the ‘Collins’ ethos and worked with the client to meet their every changing, demanding needs. This site was particularly sensitive as the location of it meant that we were constantly in the public eye.

The scheme went very well with good, positive feedback from the client in particular Craig Benham the Project Director.

‘McLaren are a good main contractor with exceptional standards, it was a pleasure working with them’ – Scott Craddock, MD Collins Demolition Ltd.
